Oxenhope Quality Parish CouncilCouncil Information

Oxenhope Parish Council consists of eight elected members and a paid Clerk.

Members are elected, unpaid, for a four year term and the next election will be in 2011. Casual vacancies are filled by election, if requested, or co-option.

The Clerk is Elaine Pearson tel. 07818 033224, e-mail clerk@oxenhopeparishcouncil.gov.uk

The monthly meeting is at 7.30 p.m. on the second Thursday each month in the Community Centre. It is open to all and members of the public are normally invited to speak on any item if they wish to do so, and 'Public Questions' are always a specific item on the agenda. There is usually a Planning Meeting on the fourth Thursday of the Month at 7.30 at the Methodist Church on West Drive.

Representation is non-political and matters discussed rarely have a party political slant. Members who find they have a 'prejudicial interest' (usually financial) in a matter under discussion must declare it and withdraw from the discussion.

The Parish Council budget for 2010 -11 is £16.050. This is funded by a local tax on residents which is collected with the Council Tax. At present it is £15.97 per household per annum.
